International Newsletter April 2010

Dear Friends,

On May 9th, I will be preaching in Polaryie Zori in northwestern Russia (east of Northern Finland), a place so polluted that it has been described as hell on earth. Miku Taivaanlahja, a Steiger missionary based in Helsinki, Finland, told me that living near Chernobyl would be healthier. Download pdf

One of the lakes there literally boils from the heat produced from a nearby nuclear power plant. It is an area full of alcoholism, drug abuse, unemployment and destroyed families. Obviously, it is a desperate place where people need to hear about Jesus!! Pray that God prepares people’s hearts when we are there and that many have the opportunity to hear how much God loves them.

Miku and I will also be in Murmansk, Russia where we will be doing a conference for local churches about creative evangelism. Before that we will be in Olenegorsk and Zelenoborsk, Russia, where we will be speaking in a drug rehab and church that was started by former drug addicts.

Miku is also working with local promoters trying to get us into some closed cities in northwestern Russia where foreigners are not allowed to travel. Pray that God opens this door so we can preach the gospel in this needy part of the world.

In April, I will also be doing evangelistic artists seminars in Zagreb (Croatia) and Berlin (Germany) plus preaching for two days at a youth conference and a church in Sumy, Ukraine. Obviously I really need your prayers, as this will be a very intense time.

International Headquarters and Training Center

On March 12th, we were able to purchase a large multi-building property in a town called Krögis, which is 40 km NW of Dresden, Germany. Incredibly, we were able to purchase this huge property (5000 m2/53,000 ft2) for just 180,000 Euros and now it will serve as our International Headquarters and Training Center.

We are VERY excited about this and I believe it is going to be a major catalyst for sending new evangelists, church planters and discipleship teams around the world to reach secular urban youth for Jesus.
The property requires some renovation, but it is in good enough shape to house our first Missionary Training School that is starting this month. Students from the USA, Poland, Germany, England, Finland and New Zealand are about to arrive and over the next two months will be provided with the strong spiritual and practical foundations necessary for a lifetime of missionary service.

This headquarters will increase Steiger International’s capacity in the following ways:

Thank you to all of you who have prayed and financially supported this project! I believe many thousands will hear about Jesus for the first time as we move into this exciting time of multiplication.

For the lost,
David Pierce
Steiger International

Prayer Needs

  1. Pray for Steiger’s ongoing financial needs.
  2. As we continue to grow, so do our expenses and ministry projects. We need to see our general support increase by $6,000 a month. Would you prayerfully consider your role in this? If 60 people committed to give $100 a month (in addition to current level of giving), we can reach this goal.
  3. You can sign up for automatic monthly giving (by credit card or bank account) by clicking the "donate now" banner on the Steiger’s website.
  4. Pray for Jodi and her staff (Adam Byer, Melissa & David Mettler, Ben Pierce, Kristin Reed, Phil Shorey, Janet Schmidt and Ania Sochacka) as they lead the Missionary Training School in Dresden, Germany (April 3 – May 20)
  5. Pray for David’s speaking tour in Germany, Ukraine, Russia, Finland and Croatia in April and May.

See the “Current Prayer Needs” on this website for more prayer needs.
