International Newsletter October 2012

Dear friends,

This summer, our No Longer Music teams did 30 evangelistic concerts in 7 countries all over Europe and the Middle East. By God’s power, thousands of people responded to our invitation to surrender their lives to Christ, including atheists in Albania, Muslim university students in Turkey and Kosovo, young people in cities all over Poland, and alternative young people in Finland.

One night, “NLM - Brazil” - led by Luke Greenwood did a concert in a club in city called Apatity - a city in the far north-west corner of Russia. The organizers described the club as ‘a house of murderers’. However, as soon as we arrived there, they felt great peace, and even the owner of the place said the “vibe” there was different.
During the concert, most of the crowd was really engaged, but some mocked. Afterwards, Luke invited those who wanted prayer to step forward and around 25 people came, including many of those who were mocking. The people at the bar even clapped!

The band led everyone to the backstage room, which became packed! Everybody (some of whom had not responded to Luke’s invitation) wanted to ask questions, to know more, and there were so many that there weren’t enough translators. People made radical decisions to follow Jesus with open hearts. One of the guys couldn’t contain his feelings and opened his heart to the band members. Another said that, during the show, the emptiness inside him had been filled up, and he wanted to learn more.

This is part of Steiger’s “Globalized Muslim Youth” initiative in the Middle East. Millions of young (17-30 years of age), educated and highly influential Muslims across the Middle East and other parts of the world have become increasingly influenced by globalization and engaged in the global network of communication, music, art and media. In recent years, Steiger’s has been able to penetrate and effectively reach this demographic with the Gospel.

Steiger is in the process of increasing our capacity to reach and disciple the “Globalized Muslim Youth” demographic throughout the Middle East. In November, we will be sending an NLM “pioneering” team led by David Pierce to Egypt. We are expecting to 2-3 concerts and develop partnership for more extensive tours in the future. Obviously, this is a very volatile part of the word, so please keep this in your prayers!
